Why I built Notably

I started a new job and suddenly found myself surrounded by new people — names, stories, little details I genuinely wanted to remember. Because the truth is, life gets busy. Even with the best intentions, things slip through the cracks.

At first, I tried to keep track of it all in a journal. But flipping through pages to find someone's coffee order or their kid's name quickly became frustrating. The information was there… just never when I needed it.

So I tried using an Excel spreadsheet. That was even worse. It just didn't have the kind of flexibility I needed. Relationships aren't rows and columns, and the way I wanted to remember people and the stories they tell me didn't fit neatly into a grid.

I looked for something better, but most apps were built like CRMs, designed for customers and businesses and not remembering stories from my friends. So I decided to build something myself, for myself. A personal relationship management tool that actually works.

Notably is a place to remember the people in your life — the small details, the meaningful moments, the things that make relationships feel like relationships. Especially when your long-distance friend tells you about her third-cousins new dog or that your neighbor Becky's sister is allergic to grapes.

I hope Notably helps you be a better friend as much as it helps me.
